A big green switch sits at the top of the screen. Slide it on and your phone becomes an app that types what it hears: a red “Listening” dot shows everyone that nearby speech is now being turned into captions.

Speech appears as a huge white caption across the bottom half of the screen and it stays on the last thing said, so you always have time to finish reading.

So how do live captions work in RoomTalk? The newest sentence sits in a large white caption that fills the bottom half of the display. The line just before it stays open in a blue bubble above, so you can still read what was said a moment ago, and older lines tuck away as a tappable “• • •” you can reopen any time.
Because RoomTalk holds the last line on screen instead of scrolling it away, you are never racing the text. When you switch listening off, the whole conversation is saved so you can read it back later, organized by Today, Yesterday, or any date.
